What is TAQADAM Accelerator?

TAQADAM is a startup accelerator for founders aiming to rapidly grow their businesses over a period of six months. Through non-dilutive funding, mentorship, and using the TAQADAM brand name and network, founders are empowered to accelerate their growth, engage and activate new customers, and onboard investors. At the completion of the program, selected graduates are eligible for non-dilutive, follow-on funding. TAQADAM is a Saudi-based accelerator founded in 2016 by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in partnership with SAB.

Program Process

TAQADAM is a rigorous, competitive accelerator for startups. Each year, over 900 applications undergo a comprehensive evaluation by a selection committee, which assesses the founding team, the product, potential for scalability, and alignment with the Saudi market. From this pool, up to 35 high-potential startups are chosen to participate in a pre-accelerator Bootcamp. Upon completion of the Bootcamp, another review identifies the most promising teams, who are then invited to proceed in the program and granted $40,000 in non-dilutive funding. Participants engage in a hybrid program spanning several months, featuring mentor-driven support and specialized resources designed to position founders for long-term success.

Both early-stage and later-stage startups are welcome to apply, including those that have already secured investment.

Program Commitment

The program begins with a virtual Bootcamp lasting one month, with sessions two to four times per week. Successful teams are then required to attend a one-week in-person session at KAUST, dedicating 5–8 hours per day. Subsequent activities include monthly sessions, averaging eight hours per month. Detailed schedules are shared after program kickoff. Participation in these sessions is mandatory. In addition, each team will receive weekly thirty-minute mentorship meetings, scheduled based on participant and mentor availability.

Entry Requirements

  • Each startup must have a minimum of two founders.
  • Applicants must not be enrolled in any other accelerator during the TAQADAM program, including the Bootcamp, unless approved by TAQADAM on a case-by-case basis.
  • Teams must provide evidence of progress, such as customer interviews or signed client interest, demonstrating the venture’s establishment.
  • Startups must have validated technology and a functional MVP (minimum viable product).
  • Full commitment to the program timeline is required, including attendance at all mandatory activities, some of which may occur during evenings, weekends, or require in-person participation at KAUST.
